Record to Report (R2R) is the management process for providing strategic, financial and operational feedback to understand how a business is performing (Wikipedia). It is not just about financial, but also other aspects of management. The solutions should cater the need of management control.

Management Excellence Framework - Road to R2R.

R2R originated from Oracle's effort to provide solution to Management Excellence. The key to Management Excellence is the Enterprise Performance Management System(EPMS). This system is an improvement to old style management cycle (or Plan Do Check and Adjust steps).

The framework consists of 6 steps, one of them is Record to Report. Because of the nature of the framework, R2R not only focus on the technicalities of the accounting within an organization. It also define the type of data to record and information to report.
